Explanations and diagrams

Except where otherwise indicated, the original explanatory text, diagrams and other book content are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

You may copy and share the material under that licence with attribution and for noncommercial purposes. The licence does not permit sharing adapted material, such as a translation or an adapted explanation. Separate permission or an applicable copyright exception may allow uses outside those permissions. Changing format alone, such as printing an unchanged page, is not an adaptation under the licence. The full licence terms govern reuse.

Read the full content licence in the repository or the official legal code.

Code and runnable examples

Original executable code is licensed under the MIT License. This includes code listings embedded in book pages, downloadable Python examples, and custom site/build code. Code remains under MIT even when it appears inside a Markdown page whose explanatory prose is under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0.

MIT permits reuse, modification and redistribution, including commercial use, subject to its terms. Retain the copyright and permission notice with copies or substantial portions of the code. The code is provided without warranty under the licence. The content licence’s NonCommercial and NoDerivatives restrictions do not apply to MIT-licensed code.

Attribution

When sharing book content, credit the author, name the book and relevant page, link to the original and the licence, and retain applicable notices. For example, use the following pattern with the actual page title and URL:

“Benny Chin, DSA Concepts, ‘[page title]’, [original page URL]. Content licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0.”

For code reuse, retain the MIT copyright and permission notice. Attribution does not imply endorsement by the author or NUS.

Third-party material and permissions

Any third-party material identified separately retains its own terms. External references, linked documentation, software dependencies and trademarks are not relicensed by this book. Original SVG explanation diagrams are treated as content; executable listings are treated as code, regardless of their containing file’s extension.

For permission to share a content adaptation or make another use outside the content licence, contact Benny Chin. Copyright exceptions and limitations remain unaffected by these licences.
